Thrifting and other means of second hand collecting has become a trendy activity among young adults during the past few years. Having been raised by parents who have always loved to thrift, flea, salvage, and repurpose, I decided to document the best of my past finds and all those to come. Enjoy :)
This is a rather lazy entry, and hopefully I’ll be able to photograph each of these pieces and post them separately in the near future, but this is an almost entirely thrifted outfit that I wore on my birthday this year! From top to bottom:
Striped “Grampa Sweater” by Gap: $3.20 at Value Village in Conyers, GA
Floral top: $2.02 at Value Village in Conyers, GA
Yellow High-Waist Pencil Skirt: Vintage, $4.59 at Goodwill in Conyers, GA- I altered this piece’s length and chose to leave the hem raw to give it a ‘shabby chic’ vibe. It’s a new favorite :)
The bag was featured early on in my blog and the booties are by 7 For All Mankind. I got them on clearance for $23 at Ross (marked down from $280 retail price!)
Got this handmade top at Value Village in Conyers, GA for $3.29- it’s vintage, with beading along the collar and sleeves, and a nice loose fit. Sleeves are 3/4 length. Can’t wait to throw it on with a peasant skirt or some linen pants this spring!
This is another hand-me-down from my mom. Her high school boyfriend bought her this top as a gift in the early 70s, and I’m really glad she wasn’t too dramatic to get rid of it when they broke up, because I wear it all the time. :) Sold by Casual Corner.
Both this top and skirt came to me free of charge! The top was hand made by my grandmother in the 1970s for my mom (and has a sister top in green, which I’ll feature later) and the skirt was from a bag of hand-me-downs the came from one of my mother’s coworkers several years ago.
